ATTENTION

The raw material with which the sheets for windows are made is PMMA, polymethylmethacrylate, known under the trade name of Plexiglas or Perspex according to the name of the first producers of sheets of this type, such as General Electric or Bayer.

Later there were many other producers but the basic compound remained PMMA.

The original flat sheets are surface tensioned by the thermoforming process which shapes the sheet according to the desired design; subsequently the atmospheric agents and the mechanical action carried out by an improper use of unsuitable cleaning means accentuate the aging of the window.

All these contributing causes lead to embrittlement the window and in many cases to end up with chips or cracks.

It is therefore recommended not to subject the sheet to mechanical stress by acting asymmetrically on the arms and not to use surfactant products based on alcohol, silicone, acids for cleaning.
