The Optima YTS 55 Ah battery has a capacity of 55 ampère/hour and allows you to maneuver a caravan weighing up to 2100 kg for 15 minutes.

AGM:
The Optima YTS 55 Ah battery uses AGM technology. AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Material. In this type of battery, the energy is not stored in the acid but in a thin glass fiber plate. Since this battery does not contain acid or other liquids it cannot leak and requires very little maintenance.

Spiral cell technology:
The Spiralcell technology of the Optima YTS 55 Ah battery is unique and has many advantages! Spiralcell Technology means that the lead plates are wound in a spiral, creating very compact cells. This design allows the more compact Optima YTS 55 Ah battery to replace a much larger conventional battery.

Self discharge:
The self-discharge of the Optima YTS 55 Ah battery is particularly low. Even if the battery is not used for a year, it works optimally and in most cases still supplies sufficient starting current. If you want to be sure that the battery reaches its maximum life, we recommend that you charge the battery to 100% every 3 months or connect it to a trickle charger during the winter.

At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is a series of spirally wound individual cells made from two plates of pure lead (99.99%) coated with a perfectly crafted lead oxide coating. One of the two plates is positive, the other is negative.
Each lead plate is produced by continuously casting steel strips to keep the thickness within critical tolerance limits.
A separator is inserted between the two plates (this main component is made of a glass microfibre material that feels like fine cotton to the touch) which performs two essential functions: it prevents the two plates from touching each other and keeps the electrolyte in a suspension uniform.
The unique manufacturing process of continuously coiled lead plates is much more precise and costly than that of traditional AGM flat plate batteries. Automated and customized cell wrapping machinery is required to meet the tight tolerances required to ensure quality and performance.
Each completed SPIRALCELL looks like a cylinder. Critical tolerances, temperatures, humidity and automated processes are continuously monitored.
OPTIMA's cylindrical battery cases are produced using precision molds that have such tight tolerances that virgin polypropylene must be used. This allows perfect and uniform pressure after inserting the SPIRALCELL and also avoids any potential contamination or impurities present in the recycled plastic.
OPTIMA 12-volt batteries consist of six SPIRALCELL cells, each of which has an open-circuit, full-charge charge of 2.2 volts for deep-discharge batteries and just over 2.1 for starter batteries.
