Warm, natural and cold light
The light emitted by a light source is evaluated by the human eye as a color gradation; if it tends towards red it is defined as warm, if it tends towards white it is defined as natural, if it tends towards blue it is defined as cold.
The unit of measurement used to define the light emitted by a luminous surface is the color temperature expressed in degrees Kelvin (K) with a scale ranging from 1000 (warm light) to 12,000 (cold light).
Light color temperature scale in Kelvin degrees
By convention, as established by legislation (UNI 12464), we speak of:
• Warm White or warm light if the color temperature is lower than 3300 K
• Neutral White (Natural White) or natural light if the color temperature is between 3300 and 5300 K
• Cool White or cold light if the color temperature is higher than 5300 K
Choose the color temperature
Warm color temperatures are recommended to promote a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere in homes, restaurants, bars and hotels. They are less suitable for installations in camper cells where the color of the furniture, often wood colour, makes the environment less bright and often outdated.
Natural color temperatures are suitable for illuminating work environments or places where it is necessary to perceive colors very well, such as offices or schools. This is the most used color temperature in camper vans.
Cold temperatures are ideal for creating an aseptic environment such as clinics or restrooms or public places.
All LED lighting fixtures, if specially designed and installed together with specific devices, can be used with brightness adjustment (dimmable) and with the possibility of setting the color most suited to your activity or application.
