SFC Energy's EFOY fuel cells are based on two technologies, DMFC (Direct methanol fuel cell) and PEM (polymer electrolyte membrane).

Our EFOY and EFOY Pro fuel cells are based on DMFC technology while our EFOY Hydrogen fuel cells are based on PEM technology.

The heart of every EFOY system is the Stack, the fundamental component that produces electricity. Through the introduction of Hydrogen and Oxygen into the Stack thanks to an electrochemical process, called cold combustion, electricity is produced.

The residues resulting from this process are only heat, water vapor and in the case of fuel cells with DMFC technology a very low carbon dioxide residue.

In our EFOY and EFOY Pro fuel cells, methanol is introduced into the stack where, thanks to an electrochemical reaction, hydrogen is extracted from the methanol (direct methanol fuel cell technology).

The purity of Methanol is certified by SFC, delivered in canisters – patented cartridges specifically developed for use with our EFOY and EFOY Pro fuel cells.

Commercially available cylinders are used to power our EFOY Hydrogen fuel cells.

EFOY fuel cells work completely autonomously, are silent and respect the environment.

They can also be installed in hidden parts against vandalism for example and produce electricity independently of climatic conditions.

All this is a particularly environmentally friendly way of producing electricity.
